Going to a foreign country?

Getting lost in translation is not so much fun (if you are not Scarlet Johansson). That place can be a foreign land, an unfamiliar suburb, or occasionally even your own apartment when a new lawn or cleaning crew arrives.
What does one do when you notice someone who does not speak your language? You could attempt using your hands to state your position on each issue. But cultures differ, situations differ and thus signs do not always properly translate your views on the issue at hand. You could always have a dictionary around and frantically sieve through thousands of words in a split of a second. And yet, a paper variant could be not so fast to get around. Why not trust the technology then? Like having an electronic translator. A seemingly impossible job of communication in a tongue unfamiliar to you might be doable with the help of a handheld electronic device! Continue Reading »
